CUSTOMER EXPERIENCES PAGE
The best compliment any service provider can receive is to be asked
to perform again. Ted Burton Jacobsen has been fortunate to have that
experience many, many times.
Over a period of years, he was asked back year after year to rural
Atkins for the Koopman pool party. These parties became well known in
that part of the countryside when a new moment was created by Ted called
“The Salute to The Corn”, which involved the playing of
“God Bless The U.S.A.” with the Iowa Sunset in the background
over a field of tall corn late in the summer season.
Al & Connie Tisinger of West Branch actually had Ted play for every
one of their children’s weddings, and Al & Connie have a lot
of kids! Connie is one of the Wilson girls, and the extended family
of Wilsons all know Ted, with particular recognition to Grandma Vera.
Around 1990, Ted helped throw a big party at the Five Seasons Center
in Cedar Rapids called the Rock & Roll Reunion. Over 2,000 adults
showed up, dancing to 50’s & 60’s oldies.
Ted was repeatedly invited back to the Oelwein Knights of Columbus
Hall, for a Catholic education fundraising event organized by Kathy
Loban, at which the natives got to know Ted, and he them. A good time
was had by all, with props to the Reisner family.
A year prior to his death, Wolfman Jack appeared at the Five Seasons
Center in Cedar Rapids in 1994. Ted was lucky enough to share the stage
with the Wolfman for a brief time, as the Wolfman howled his way through
a rock & roll set enjoyed by all.
The Christian family of La Porte City & Dysart has had Ted play
for a bunch of events including birthdays, retirement party, and anniversaries,
Duane and Dixie and their girls.
The Electric Park Ballroom in Waterloo was a venue for Ted and a partner
DJ in the late 80’s, where as many as 1,500 teenagers would gather
on a given summer evening for the famous “teen dance”. The
house was rockin’.
For over a decade, the St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Iowa City
has held in one form or another a Valentine’s dance in February.
Ted has been the DJ every year. He’s been asked back ten times.
Ted has been contracted to do many singles dances and dance club dances
over the years throughout the area. Several high school classes have
had Ted play for multiple reunions, from the 10th to the 25th year reunion
and beyond.
1978 was the year of disco. One of Ted’s early experiences was
as a disco DJ in an actual discotheque known as the Macamba Club in
LaCrosse, Wisconsin, that year.
In the early 90’s, Ted was the MC of the World’s Biggest
Beach Party at the famous No-Wa-Wa Beach in Williamsburg, Iowa, featuring
many of the great acts of the Rock & Roll era.
Every VFW, Legion Hall, Knights of Columbus, Eagles, Moose, Union Hall,
and Ballroom within 100 miles have hosted Ted and his equipment, as
he has provided the entertainment for countless events of local family
& friends celebrating together. Ted knows the territory, every nook
and cranny!
Many of the large hotels in the metropolitan areas of Cedar Rapids
and Iowa City refer Ted Burton Jacobsen as a recommended wedding DJ.
They know he has all that it takes to help put together a complete successful
package for your reception evening.
So whether it’s the fanciest white-glove hotel ballroom, a church,
a school, an outdoor block party, or the smallest redneck bar, Ted is
very comfortable with people. He is one of us, salt of the earth, Iowa
people, and he uses the music to reflect the magic moments of life.
